How To Spot Scabies Symptoms and Protect Yourself by Steinharter Bierly
People that usually contract scabies are of poor health, and their susceptibility to the mites has to do with their particular strain, the stage of infestation, and where they infest. Although scabies can also be called mites, regardless of the name that you use, they are very small and hard to find. This history of these insects goes back thousands of years and even primitive doctors long ago were aware of them. The general symptoms are very itchy skin, if not extreme itchiness, that is due to the body’s allergic reaction. The mites actually burrow into the skin, just below the surface and live while reproducing. No one is immune to contracting a scabies infestation. It really has no demographic; it can appear on people from affluent regions to those that are very young and clean.
Sometimes people can mistake scabies symptoms as merely a dry patch of skin that is irritated and itches a lot. If left untreated, of course the condition will only worsen because the mites will continue to lay eggs. As the mites burrow or tunnel through your skin, you will see their trails just beneath the upper epidermal layer. Several tell-tale signs are if the itching becomes noticeably worse after taking a bath/shower and also at night. Children are much more susceptible to the itching because it does seem to be worse for them.
The mites are no different than any other living organism in that they will continue to grow and multiply as long as the environment is conducive to it. Scabies, in general, likes to pick specific areas of the body because it is much easier for the mites to sustain themselves. Scabies can appear on virtually anyone, male or female, however the places where they infest may differentiate by gender.
However, on both genders the buttocks is one location where it can happen. Although there is this one distinction, there are many more variations per gender. Guys can look forward to infestations primarily occurring in the genital area. Scabies can most likely appear on women where the bra line touches the breast and nipple area.
Nodular scabies syndrome is one bad complication of scabies and can occur in someone who has suffered an extreme bout of scabies or in people with delicate skin. This infestation will produce nodules on the skin that are very small and can be somewhere in between brown and red in color. You will find nodular scabies usually in areas that are covered by clothing. It wouldn’t be unusual for these nodules to develop under the arms and in the groin area. For weeks, or even months, after the adult mites have been terminated, the scabies nodules can plague you. There is a misconception that scabies is only a sexually transmitted disease and that is not accurate. Having the ability to last apart from the human host for as much as 36 hours, scabies is easily transmittable without human contact. The easiest way for a small or large family to be infested by scabies is to have one person
touch an object that everyone uses, such as a doorknob, which allows mites to spread. Be sure to take anyone in your family that you suspect of having scabies to a physician to not only get a diagnosis, but to start treatment if the scabies has infested their skin.
